Electric Shock - Slipped into Contact with Live Parts
Investigation abstract
A power line worker had finished installing a cutout switch on a utility pole. A fter he descended the pole, he saw a piece of tape on the cutout switch and deci ded to climb back up to remove it. As he reached the top to remove the tape, his climbers apparently cut out. The slip caused him to touch the 7200-volt contact on top of the switch with his left hand while his right hand was apparently tou ching a grounded guy. The employee was electrocuted. (He also fell to the ground and broke his right leg.) The employee was not wearing his rubber insulating gl oves at the time of the accident.
