Event description

Employee caught and killed between drill rig and pickup

Investigation abstract

At approximately 3:50 p.m. on October 26, 1989, Employee #1 was watching a drill ing operation and taking samples of material when a pickup truck rolled toward t he drill rig. Employee #1 turned and saw the pickup at the same moment it hit hi m. He was pinned between the drill rig and the front of the pickup. The crew ext racted Employee #1 and administered first aid, then transported him approximatel y 75 miles to the nearest hospital. He died of multiple internal injuries.
