Event description
Employee dies from injuries received in fall from roof
Investigation abstract
At 11:45 a.m. on March 2, 1990, Employee #1, a company superintendent, was insta lling kilns at a sawmill under construction. Two of his employees were laying ou t 18 ft long sheets of aluminum on the roof of the kiln control room. Employee # 1 climbed to the roof to explain how he wanted the aluminum sheets laid out so t hat the roof would be properly aligned. He was standing at the southeast corner of the roof observing the work in progress when he fell. Neither of the two work ers saw Employee #1 fall, and it is not known if he lost his balance or misjudge d his distance from the edge. Employee #1 fell 13 ft 6 in. onto concrete, landin g head first. He died as a result of head injuries on April 1, 1990.
