Event description
Employee's leg fractured when pinned by van against bench
Investigation abstract
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 30, 1990, Employee #1 was inside the mainte nance shop engaged in mechanical work on the fuel pump of an armored 5-speed GMC van. The vehicle was thought to be in neutral and the parking brake set. Employ ee #1 asked the office secretary to get into the vehicle and turn the key to the right to check the ignition. When she turned the key, the vehicle lunged forwar d and pinned Employee #1 against a workbench. He suffered a fracture of his lowe r right leg and was hospitalized.
