Event description

THREE EMPLOYEES BURNED BY FIRE IN COMPRESSOR STATION

Investigation abstract

ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21, 1989, EMPLOYEES #1, #2, AND #3 WERE PERFORMING MAINTENANC E ON AN AJAX DPC-230 NATURAL GAS COMPRESSOR. EMPLOYEES #1 AND #2 WERE INSIDE THE COMPRESSOR SHED AND EMPLOYEE #3 WAS OUTSIDE THE STRUCTURE GETTING A TOOL FROM T HE TRUCK WHEN A FIRE ERUPTED. THE FIRE CAUSED SEVERE BURNS TO EMPLOYEES #1 AND # 2 AND LESSER BURNS TO EMPLOYEE #3. EMPLOYEE #1 DIED OF HIS INJURIES THE NEXT DAY , EMPLOYEE #2 REMAINED HOSPITALIZED AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT, AND EMPLOYEE #3 WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 DAYS.
