EMPLOYEE KILLED BY FALLING TREE

Investigation abstract

Employee #1 was engaged in a tree harvesting operation. Employee #1 was standing approximately 6 feet behind a 50-foot-high, 16.5-inch-wide water oak tree. He h ad just completed his second cut and backed up when the tree started to fall. Th e tree split approximately 15 feet up the middle. It sprang up, striking Employe e #1 in the neck and upper body, killing him.
