Employee's fingertip amputated by tangled cable
Investigation abstract
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on August 1, 1989, Employee #1, a crane operator and laborer, was pulling 1 in. cable through the legs of a concrete form when the c able that he was working with became coiled at the end of the concrete form. Whe n he tried to uncoil the loop in the cable, the coil became tighter and the loop flipped around the tip of his ring finger, amputating it. He was given first ai d to stop the bleeding and transported to the company doctor in Crofton, MD.
