ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU LADDER

Investigation abstract

A roofer was installing a downspout on a building. As he was moving his extensio n ladder, he lost his footing. The ladder contacted one phase conductor of a 12. 47-kilovolt (phase-to-ground) overhead power line. The employee received an elec tric shock. Emergency medical services administered first aid and transported th e employee to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had been electrocuted .
