Employee hand crushed when caught in machine
Investigation abstract
Employee #1 was winding a coil on a 3 1/2 in. aluminum winding machine. While th e machine was still running, he reached behind a guard to feel one of the feed r ollers that tends to get a build-up of paint. His fingers became caught in the r ollers and were crushed, resulting in multiple fractures for which he was hospit alized. The guard had to be removed to free the employee's hand. A tool is avail able to check and clean this roller, and employees have been instructed to use t his tool and not their hands.
