On or about 1:15 p.m. on November 4, 2015, an employee cutting meat on a vertical band saw sustained a partial finger amputation to his left index finger. The employee wore layered cotton, metal mesh and rubber gloves on his right hand, which he used to turn the meat during cutting/trimming. He wore layered cotton and rubber gloves on his left hand which he used to take the trimmed pieces of meat and set aside for freezing or packaging. His left hand inadvertently contacted the moving blade while placing a trimmed piece of meat to the side.
