An employee was adjusting the rollers on the skinner. The machine was locked out at the time. After the adjustments were finished, the employee removed tools from the machine, removed the lock, and re-energized the skinner. The employee pressed the foot pedal and the machine started. The employee's left hand was on the surface of the skinner, which grabbed the employee's left arm sleeve and pulled it into the skinner, severely lacerating the employee's left hand and partially amputating the left-hand thumb.
