An employee was breaking up wooden furniture on a raised loading dock and then throwing pieces into a 30-yard dumpster positioned along the dock. While attempting to throw a wooden drawer into the dumpster, the employee's right foot entered the gap between the loading dock and dumpster. He then tripped over the dumpster lip, fell forward into the dumpster, and struck his chest on the debris inside. He broke two ribs and suffered internal bleeding, requiring hospitalization.
