An employee was working on the rig floor of a workover rig. The crew was picking up pipe from the hole. The operator descended the block to the rig floor to connect to the pipe. The bails and elevators were connected to the blocks. When the elevators came down, the employee's finger was caught between the elevator and bail resulting in a left middle finger amputation at the first digit.
