The injured employee was assisting with material offload. His hand was above the two part block line on the crane. Two employees were disconnecting the rig. When the rigger gave the signal to raise the crane hook, the injured employee's hand became caught within the hook mechanism resulting in amputation of the right middle and ring fingers.
