Final narrative
Two employees were replacing a water pump on a flatbed truck. The water pump had been raised underneath the truck with a jack. The injured employee had just finished removing the bolts that attached the old water pump to the rest of the vehicle, and was attempting to lower the pump to the ground with a floor jack. The second employee attempted to release pressure off of the hydraulic floor jack in order to lower the old part to the ground while the injured employee was attempting to hold the part steady on the jack while it was lowered. The jack lowered faster than expected and the injured employee lost his grip on the part, which rolled off of the jack and onto his abdomen. He suffered blunt force trauma to his abdomen and a torn intestine.
