An employee was going to hammer in the shaft of a paddle wheel and was waiting for it to rotate to the correct position before shutting it off. His hand was on the guard when it slipped off the guard and became caught between the pulley and the belt. He suffered an amputation of the left ring finger just below the fingernail.
