An employee was operating a tractor with a hay bale spear attachment. The employee was attempting to spear a round hay bale weighing 800 to 1500 lbs. when the hay bale was pushed off the flatbed truck and struck the truck driver who was retrieving a strap on the ground below the bales. The truck driver sustained a dislocated hip, broken ribs, a punctured lung, a back injury and a facial laceration.
