Compressed or pinched by shifting objects or equipment · Crushing injuries
Final narrative
Employees were performing maintenance on a crimp press. The employees were using an impact (pneumatic) wrench to remove bolts from a vertically positioned cylinder in the crimp press. The injured employee was supporting the weight of the impact wrench to keep it steady. His fingers were underneath the vertically positioned impact wrench, away from the nut being removed. When the final nut was loosened, the cylinder slid down and crushed his pinky finger between the back/bottom of the impact wrench and the metal below it.
