Fall on same level due to tripping over an object · Fractures

An employee was pushing a food cart in a dining lounge. Her foot slid forward and caught under the cart, causing her to fall backward. Her foot remained under the cart and her right arm went between two chairs, preventing her from stopping her fall. She suffered an open fracture to the left femur, as well as fractures to the right humerus and the left nasal bone.

An employee was walking toward a pump on which he was installing a new suction manifold. He tripped over the old manifold, lying on the ground, and fell. He suffered a compound fracture to the left forearm and was hospitalized.

An employee was pushing a resident in a wheelchair out of a dining room when she tripped and fell on her left side, breaking her left hip. She was hospitalized, requiring surgery.

William Beaumont Army Medical Center

An employee's foot got caught in pulse oximeter cables as she walked away from a delivery table. She tried to catch herself on the table, but it moved out of the way and she fell to the floor shoulder first. Both her arms were broken.
