FULTON, MISSOURI—
MISSOURI FABRICATORS
Struck by falling object unspecified · Amputations involving bone loss
Final narrative
Two employees were working together to straighten up the front of a material barge. They were removing templates that were no longer needed. The injured employee went to move two banded angle iron pieces (approximately 700 pounds, 20 feet long) off the template so it would be easier to access the material. As one of the pieces slid off the cribbing angle it was resting on, it dropped approximately 2 inches, pinching the employee's right middle finger between the angle iron and the deck of the barge, resulting in a fingertip avulsion that required the surgical amputation down to the first distal joint.
