Clearing brush trees for bridge inspection job

What happened

Employee was working with other crew members to clear trees which threatened a bridge and interfered with bridge inspectors. Witnesses said they observed him standing on a slope near the bridge facing uphill. For reasons still unknown he fell backwards landing on his back heading down the slope. He did not appear to slide down the hill but was lying motionless on his back with his feet directed uphill. Crew members rushed to his assistance and observed he was struggling to breath and making gurgling sounds. To prevent him from aspirating he was slightly moved so that his head was not sloped down the hill. At that point it was observed that he fell on a large protruding rock. While the employees head was kept still the crew member with EMT training checked for a pulse with negative results. He checked a few times then immediately began CPR. Crew members were communicating with each other and alerted the Supervisor on scene. Someone was directed to call [REDACTED] and an ambulance arrive
