What happened
The employee’s thumb was resting in the groove on the folder machine where the fingers of the machine move horizontally to engage material at the bed table. Simultaneously as the operator rested his hand on the table he also engaged the foot pedal which initiated the machine’s movement into the positioning for the next bend. As part of that positioning the machine finger moved forward toward the bend table.The employee 's hand that was resting on the table moved with the machine finger and became wedged between the moving machine finger and the rectangular metal bar.
