Before the incident
Employee was using a crane to position a piece of large rod in an material storage rack the employee was using a no touch tool to manipulate the rod because the piece spun while they were taking it to the destination. The employee lowered the piece partially into the storage racks and they positioned themselves in an unsafe manor in relation to the piece to try to straighten the piece up with a no touch tool. They stepped backwards and tripped on the material rack behind them. The rod spun while they were falling and struck the employee in the face.
