Maintenance Technician was preparing to lift a heavy rubber roller from a roller cart to the lathe.

Maintenance Technician was preparing to lift a heavy rubber roller from a roller cart to the lathe. Before attaching the hoist to the roller to transfer to lathe the technician was attempting to line up and center the cart so it was directly under the hoist. Using the rotary union at the end of the roller journal he attempted to move the cart into position by pulling on it. While pulling on the rotary union the roller slipped off the cart. As it fell off the cart the technicians hand was still holding onto the rotary union and landed on the floor with his hand in between the floor and the rotary union.

Laceration on Ring and pinky fingers on the left hand.
