Before the incident
I was in patient 's home for home care revisit and assisting patient with glucose monitoring.
What happened
Occurence while assisting patient to use glucose monitor. The patient did not remove previously used lancet needle (from yesterday) from the lancing device. The patient attempted to remove the cap of the lancing device but was not able to remove it and requested assistance. In my attempt to remove the cap the previously used lancet needle struck my finger through my rubber glove.
