What happened
I was drawing blood on a patient on her left arm I brought the rolling tray closer to me so I 'd be able to grab my supplies. I finished the blood draw and locked the needle when I was putting the needle into the sharps container I believe it was unlocked with movement and that 's when the needle stuck my finer. I went to my colleague and asked her what to do she directed me to our nurse and we followed up with our supervisor on the next step. I went to the emergency department at Lenox Hill Hospital where I had my blood drawn and was discharged.
