The doctor left a used Prolia needle that looked like it was securely capped but it was not securely capped along with other garbage like a bandaid and alcohol wrapper and a paper towel. I was cleaning the rolling cart so that the room was clean so I could bring in another patient.

I grabbed the Prolia from the non needle side along with the paper towel underneath with the same hand and then I grabbed the other side of the paper towel with my other hand so I could throw out the paper towel with all the other garbage on top of it and as I lifted the paper towel along with the Prolia injection the cap which i thought was securely on the needle part fell off and I poked my hand with that was nearest to the needle area that was also holding the other end of paper towel up. My plan was to drop the paper towel in the garbage and then put the needle in the sharps container all at once.

Blood Bodily Fluid - Needlestick

Dirty Prolia needle

I lifted the paper towel along with the Prolia injection the cap which I thought was securely on the needle part fell off and I poked my hand
