Transporting patient on stretcher from IR to recovery room.

What happened

Transporting patient (on stretcher) back to recovery after procedure in IR1; accompanied by IR tech standing at head of bed and holding stretcher handles. Injured employee 's hands were both on siderails at foot of bed [where they curve inward]. Employee used back to push door release bar and open door completing turn and leaving room hallway. IR tech warned injured employee that there was a cart behind him and in the way; injured employee turned to see avoid cart. In that instant the injured employee 's left hand was caught and crushed between the curved siderail and the door 's push-bar protruding hub. Injured employee immediately recognized injury however did not realize severity and completed shift after wrapping ice pack around injured left hand.
