Working on the IMM (Injection Mold Machine) control panel to figure out why the machine was not making good parts.
What happened
IW 's Supervisor pointed to where the problem was and the IW opened up the IMM door and entered without his PPE. He did not back out the barrel before entering the area. The IMM released a stream of hot plastic that struck the employees forearm.

2nd & 3rd degree burn to forearm and minor burns to fingers as IW pulled hot plastic off skin.

Nor wearing his PPE (welding Jacket welding gloves safety glasses face shield) and not following procedure of backing out the barrel before entering the IMM.
