What happened
EE was raising the tote to start a new batch. Once the tote got to the part where the column dumper is about to tip the tote into the blender the arm came loose. The tote came backwards a little bit towards the EE. He put up his hand as a reaction. The tote hit and got into contact with the EE 's thumb and jammed his thumb as it was falling backward towards him.
