Attempting to grease FJ heads

I W is an operator in training on our Finger [REDACTED]. IW was working on the feed side of the FJ and had just begun running the machine after shift start. After machine was running IW realized that they never pumped up the heads prior to running (grease gun). IW then shut the machine down and locked out both cutter heads and the infeed conveyor as is procedure. However the FJ heads to not have brakes and IW did not wait long enough for the heads to stop turning. IW reached to remove the guard which is open ended on the back. In that area the cutter head is exposed so IWs left hand contacted the cutter head which tore through IWs glove leaving a cut on the middle ring pinky fingers of the IWs left hand. IW was treated by 1st Aid (cleaned wrapped) and taken to the E.R. where IW received several stitches: 7 on the middle finger and 2 each on the pinky and ring fingers.
