Before the incident

Employee was using a compressed air wand to blow debris out of the inside of a boat as a routine part of her job - preparing the boat for the acid wash station in the [REDACTED].

What happened

A Pro V boat had finished going through the foaming process and was being prepped by the employee. The boat was suspended on its side to allow the employee to use a compressed air wand to blow the boat out prior to it entering the acid wash booth. This model of boat has two metal plated temporarily fastened the boat deck so as to receive paint prior to final placement. As employee worked her way along the boat she inadvertently hit her head on the edge of one of the temporarily placed plates. Employee sustained a small laceration on the crown of her head above her right ear. There was some bleeding that occurred. Employee complained of sharp pain at the point of impact.

Object or substance involved

The employee lost sight of the two temporarily placed metal plates as she prepped the boat. She struck the edge of one of the metal plates with her head as she performed her routine tasks.
