Medication administration

Staff had finished collecting the pts labwork for the AM. She states she noted the flap on the sharps container slightly closed yet noted space in the bin when she observed the sneak peak window the bin has on the front. She inserted the butterfly needle with vacutainer attached into the sharps bin. She states she felt something graze the top of her right hand. She was looking for the item she believed fell on the floor when pts RN came into the room and assisted her in looking for it. She then placed her hand into her lab coat pocket and was stuck by a Lovenox syringe needle on her right hand near the 4th digit. Staff member believes she may have still had her gloves on yet not 100% certain. She notified the Nursing Admin Sup. She headed to the lab where she washed the site with soap and water thoroughly.
