I was outside the patients room becaue she was vaping in her room.

I was approached by the patients nurse becuase she was vaping in her room. At this point I talked to the patient about giving me the vape but she refused. I then went and talked to the Adult Emergency Department Charge Nurse who also attempted to talk to the patient. After a [REDACTED] the patients Nurse went to get her a nicotine patch and when she came back with the patch the patient was using a needle to take some kind of drug. At this point I took possession of the bag and when I did there was an exposed needle that was poking out of the bottom of the bag. This needle ended up poking me in the right thumb and it caused my thumb to bleed.
