Maintenance Mechanic was in the process of repacking pulp mill cline 6 refiner (Andritz model [REDACTED]) on a scheduled planned job All required PPE for this task was being utilized In addition prior to performing the job the equipment was properly locked out and a STEP card was completed to identify risk hazards for this planned activity The maintenance mechanic was using a large corkscrew style packing puller to remove the old packing and water ring Due to the current refiner housing layout it created an awkward angle for removing the old packing and water ring After the removal of 4 packing rows the maintenance mechanic began removing the water ring and felt a pop in his right shoulder area The maintenance mechanic reported the incident to his supervisor and was transported to the medical building for assessment by the onsite EMT The onsite EMT treated the injury with ice and heat and recommended the employee to be seen by next higher level of care The injured mechanic was transpor
