What happened

Empress [REDACTED] was responding to a [REDACTED] emergency with lights and siren activated when they entered an intersection against a steady red light and was struck by a vehicle crossing through the intersection. The impact of the collision caused the ambulance to roll over and come to rest against the other vehicle and a retaining wall in front of a residence. Both employees were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department. Operator of the vehicle that was struck by the ambulance was able to self extricate from the vehicle and was immediately treated by responding EMS units. City of Poughkeepsie PD on scene conducting investigation.
