Before the incident
Dumping powder at intake station #2
What happened
EE was working at powder dump station #2 in the intake room. The employee was set to perform the task of clearing out buildup of powder in the intake station. The station is a hopper with an auger at the bottom and a magnetic screen at the top of the hopper. The employee dumps powder over the magnetic screen. To clear the powder the employee moved the protective magnetic screen at the top of the bin. As the employee reached down to clear up the powder buildup they dropped their knife that was in their hand. The employee went to grab the knife they had dropped when they did so their right thumb was caught by the auger at the bottom of the hopper. The auger had not been stopped by the employee prior to them attempting to clean up the buildup in the hopper.
