Before the incident
Bus Aide in a minibus parked at Middle School. Monitoring special needs student who had been brought out to the bus by school staff in an agitated state. Immediately prior to incident bus aide was riding in an empty minibus enroute to MCSD middle school.
What happened
Special needs student was being violent when she was brought out to board the bus by school staff. Bus driver and bus aide told dispatch that student is not able to safely be driven home due to her out of control state. Before student could be removed from school bus she scratched and bit the bus aide.
Injury or illness
Human bite mark R forearm. Scratches did not need treated other than site being sanitized. Bite mark was evaluated at worker 's comp treatment site Concentra Medical Center. One follow-up appointment to check bite wound. RX given for an antibiotic if signs of infection occurred which the signs did not. Rx was not filled. Employee has pre-existing medical condition to which unnecessary antibiotic use would exacerbate her condition.
