What happened

On [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] a Bagging Room associate was removing the spindle arm from a film roll to complete a change over. In the process of removing the arm it quickly freed causing the associate 's arms to move backward quickly. The associate 's right hand was located on the back end of the arm and impacted a metal support column that was immediately behind them. The supervisor checked the injury and the associate declined medical care at the time of incident. After the associate 's shift ended they started to experience increased pain and made the decision to go to an ER near their home. Associate was initially diagnosed with a fractured finger at the ER. Associate did not notify Supervisor of the ER visit until they came into work on [REDACTED]. The supervisor immediately notified EHS and an investigation began.
