Before the incident

The teammate was in the process of removing the broke auger by manually moving it with a pry bar out of the first housing compartment.

What happened

The last flight of the auger became caught on the transition between first and second housing. The teammate did not have anything to pry against at that time he used his hand to push on the end of the shaft of the auger. Just as his hand contacted the shaft the auger rotated slightly the flighting slid out of the first housing compartment and the shaft dropped striking the TM’s finger between the shaft and the transition between the 2 housing compartment.

Injury or illness

The teammates distal end of right pinky finger received a compound fracture to the middle bone of pinky finger. Stitches were required to close up the wound.

Object or substance involved

The broken auger on a machine and divider between the first and second housing were the objects to pinch the right pinky finger of the teammate and result in the injury.

Crushed the distal end of right pinky finger compound fracture of middle bone of pinky. Stitches were required to close up the wound. He was replacing a broken auger on a machine when it broke loose and pinched his right pinky finger.
