Before the incident
Employee was removing the wood board from the top of the skid to be able to de-stack the wheels.
What happened
Employee was removing the wood board from the top layer of a skid of 17.5 Steel Wheels when one of the wheels fell off and landed on the top of her left foot. After inspecting her foot there was some slight bruising and swelling so we sent her to urgent care to get an x-ray. The employee was wearing steel toed boots but the wheel landed just above the toes on the top of the foot. This is the first time we have handled this size of wheel which are significantly larger and heavier than our normal days. We did have a Safety meeting prior so everyone was aware and took things slow and steady to try to avoid any injuries.
