Before the incident

Operator was loading a roll onto the Reclaimer to rework. Operator began sliding the roll onto the shaft while her middle finger was in the pinch-point between the core and the shaft.

What happened

While the operator was loading a roll to rework on the reclaimer they were grabbing the roll from the side with their fingers resting on the core nearest the film so it would not get pinched between the shaft and core while sliding the roll on the shaft the roll slipped and as the roll was falling to the ground their finger was pinched in-between the roll and the end of the unwind shaft. They thought they heard a snap and got assistance there was swelling from the tip of the finger down to the first knuckle or about 1 4 of the finger and a light bruise on the finger tip and under the fingernail. Ice pack was put on it for the first hour.
