I was administering a Vitamin K injection to an infant.

After giving the injection I pushed the safety lock on against a surface and i thought it clicked in all the way. Once i was done i gathered all my garbage and was going to throw it out but the safety lock must have not fully clicked. I got stuck through my glove with the needle from the Vit K injection.

Right thumb. Pain from injury to thumb.

Used Vitamin K injection needle

Needlestick to right thumb from contamined medication needle sustained secondary to improperly engaged safety device.
