Marking piece # on beam

On [REDACTED] an employee was working in the laydown yard identifying structural steel members that had been recently placed for upcoming installation. The beam that was stood up had opposing erection plates on each end which was also on a slight incline in order to write the piece number on the end of the member. The beam became unstable once the employee released it to continue to next piece. Due to the incline and lack of support the beam tipped and fell toward the employee striking the top of their right foot with the flange. The employee was wearing proper footwear and was immediately transported to the emergency room for further evaluation.
