Employee was attempting to load a master coil on the North end of the MECO [REDACTED] so it could be processed.

During the loading process the employee opened the pit gate and walked down to the coil to prep it. As they were doing so stepped backward and fell into the coil cart pit landing on the cart’s track. The platform that covers the pit during this process had been partially removed due to a maintenance issue over the weekend (the employee had been instructed at the start of their shift to not run material on the north side of the mill due to the platform being removed).

Contusions and scratches to the torso arms and laceration to the top of the head.
