Before the incident

Employee was moving material out from in front of the turret press (EMK) with the use of a PIT to make room for a new skid of flat stock. Once the skid was in place they proceeded to move a palllet and table containing in process material back so they could continue working.

What happened

When they attempted to pickup the table (which contained a full sheet of slotted track that had just come out of the EMK) the mast of the PIT bumped the metal causing a portion of it to shift off the table and fall to the ground. The employee returned the table to its correct position at the EMK and then walked back over to retrieve the piece that had fallen. They grabbed one end of the material and began to lift it into the air. As they were lifting the end up the piece shifted suddenly causing it to slip in their hands. This sudden movement allowed the metal to contact their right bicep just above the arm guard causing a small laceration.
