What happened

At the end of shift team member had locked out and was performing daily cleaning tasks at the Sawmill Trimmer. He had just finished cleaning broken boards and shims and was walking back across to exit the back log chain area when he stepped on the tail sprocket of the 3 back log chain causing it to shift. This resulted in the team member losing his footing and his left knee came down hitting the top of the chain splitting his left kneecap open. Team member immediately reported the incident and was administered first aid care. Upon examination it was determined that the knee would require stitches and treatment beyond first aid. Supervisor contacted superintendent and safety at [REDACTED]. It was determined that bleeding was under control and a safety packet and investigation was started and a drug test administered onsite.
