HCW was helping patient get onto gurney without breaks engaged

pt was being transported by gurney to her rehab facility. The transport guy came in telling me & the pt that his gurney doesn 't have brakes. He was telling me that he wanted to keep the gurney against the wall to prevent the gurney from going backward. I told him that the pt. is a stand & pivot. He moved the gurney closer and stabilized the gurney with his body the best that he could. my pt & me guided to the gurney & sat on it. but the gurney kept slipping out from under her feet. The pt & me were very fearful of her falling. I held on to her trying to keep her onto the gurney. I used my knees in front of her knees to prevent her from sliding out or off the gurney. The man didn 't assist until my co worker stepped in to help
