What happened
While the EE was loosening bolts there was a bolt that was on too tight and after the bolt was not coming off with a pair of channel locks (wrong tool) the EE went to get the right tool for the job and his gloves were greasy from the materials and slipped on the wrench and hit the guard causing a laceration to the middle finger.
