Before the incident
ORIF of small finger. The doctor put the 45 kwire on PT body inside a glove rapping paper. I got the paper and didn 't know that a sharp object is in there. After further assessment associate reported that proper protocol is to place the sharps on the hand table and not on patient 's body; however associate stated that the doctor said well just put a towel on the patient or something you 're fine. Associate stated that after she felt initial puncture there was no bleeding present but did notice that the K-wire was bloody. She immediately washed her hand with alcohol and then reported to [REDACTED].
